The college now has 55 full-time Chinese and foreign faculty, including 2 professors, 8 associate professors, 1 doctoral supervisor, and 26 master supervisors.
75% of IBC faculty have an international teaching background. There are 31 foreign teachers, and 24 Chinese teachers, 10 of whom have engaged in higher education outside of China.
As for specialization, there are 22 instructors in finance, economics, business, and accounting, 14 of whom (64%) have earned a doctoral degree. Additionally, IBC employs 33 language teachers, 22 of whom (76%) hold at least a master’s degree.
Our teachers have profound academic backgrounds, and the majority have earned their master’s and doctoral degrees from world-renowned universities such as University of London, Georgia Institute of Technology, Virginia Tech University, University of Bath, University of Sydney, Peking University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, and Foreign Trade University.
Since its establishment, the International Business College has improved the quality of its teaching, research, and development by conducting its organizational management in a planned, scientific and standardized way, thus rejuvenating itself through scientific research, while raising the quality of its scientific research to a higher standard. These achievements have been made possible by the university’s commitment to scientific research, the IBC’s innovative development strategy on “think tank construction”, and with special attention from IBC and DUFE leadership.
By March 2018, teachers of IBC had published 11 papers in SSCI journals and more than 50 in CSSCI journals, undertaken 9 state projects, 1 national natural science fund project, 1 national social science fund project and 21 provincial projects, and published more than 10 monographs and textbooks. 3 teachers of IBC won 5 provincial awards for scientific research, and the Report on the Quality of Talent Cultivation in Sino-foreign Corporative Education was commented by Vice-premier Yandong Liu.
At present, IBC supervises two research centres at our parent institution, Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (DUFE); the Global Institute of Management and Economics (GIME) and the Supply Chain Management Research Centre, while also independently managing two college-level research centers—the Sino-Australia Research Centre for Internal Control and Risk Management, and the International Service Management Research Institute.
A better scientific research atmosphere helps to build a cooperation platform for the teachers. In order to achieve this, the College has also established a scientific research forum with a significant system of incentives. The scientific research forum is held once a week, and features domestically and internationally famous experts and scholars. At this forum, teachers from IBC, the greater DUFE community, and from other colleges and universities in Dalian communicate and share with one another.
In addition, on the basis of the scientific research support and encouragement policies from DUFE, IBC has also issued ‘Rules on Support and Reward for Scientific Research in the International Business College’ in order to encourage and assist teachers currently engaged in scientific research on behalf of the college.
