In 2000, Dongbei University of Finance & Economics (DUFE) reached an agreement with the Huron University College (HUC) at Western University (UWO) in Canada on jointly offering a 4-year undergraduate program in Economics. This program got approval from the Education Department of Liaoning Province in 2001 and was reviewed by the Ministry of Education in 2007, being granted a certificate for Chinese-foreign cooperation in education.
The program was reviewed by the Ministry of Education of P.R.C in 2009 and was granted an extension Certificate of Approval in 2012. The program aims to produce graduates with academic knowledge of their subject area, intercultural communication skills and international vision so as to meet the increasing demand of the Chinese job market for graduates with an international education background. By the end of 2016, there were 162 students who graduated from the program.
The program length is 4 years. Students in the program can either chose a single-degree path or double-degree path. For those who chose the single-degree path will be awarded the Bachelor’s degree in Economics and graduation certificate in Economics by DUFE after finishing all required credits.

For those who chose the double-degree path will be awarded both the Bachelor’s degree in Economics and graduation certificate by DUFE and an Honor Bachelor’s Degree in Economics by UWO after finishing all credits required by both universities.
